The American Cancer Society has started to gear up for its signature fundraiser, The Relay For Life.
Starting in the spring and going right on through the summer The Relay For Life will be held in numerous locations across the country. Teams will gather at local high schools, parks, and fairgrounds to fight the battle against cancer. The relay is a 24 hour event where each team has at least one representative on the course at all times. Through all the different relays that are setup across the country more than 3.5 million people will be involved.
Not only is the event a great way to raise funds to battle cancer but it is also a nice way to celebrate those who have survived cancer and remember loved ones who have been lost as well.
Teams are now beginning to form and fundraise for the event. The only requirement to participate is a registration fee. There is no required amount of money raised to participate but the American Cancer Society suggests 0 in donations as a personal goal for those who participate.
The money raised through the relay saves lives by funding cutting edge research, early detection and prevention education, advocacy efforts, and life affirming patient services.
If you would like to become involved with the relay in any way, you can get more information at the Relay For Life website. Here you can find relays in your area, tips on fundraising, and how to register for the event.
